The Dwight Scott Rufigi River Bench Rest Match

As many of you already know, we usually put a shooting contest up for our trackers, game scouts and some of those who work at our camp. We name it after my friend Dwight Scott, who is the only members of our hunting team that has any claim to bench rest shooting. Dwight is an accomplished bench rest shooter, and a member of the Hall Of Fame.

This is Philip, who has been one of our trackers for the past 12 years. He works for Alan Vincent. He has not won any of our contests yet, despite all his efforts. He is working himself up the winners list though. He used to snigger when one of us misses a shot. I think he had the idea that all one has to do with a scoped rifle is point it in the general direction of the target, and pull the trigger. His own shooting has convinced him of his slight mistake.

Philip with his target. His first shot was in the bulls eye, and the rest just walked downwards, the last being completely out of the target.

There were as many shooting positions adopted as there were shooters. Some wanted to sit on the chair, others wanted to kneel, and some got into all sorts of funny positions. But, all had a great time.

This is the man who did our laundry. He never shot as rifle before, but insisted on competing. And despite a number of our hunting crew trying their best to give him some pointers, he managed to get himself...

A beauty ring. He put on two plasters, in a cross formation, on his forehead, and was very proud to display it to everyone.

This gentleman kept complaining he could not see the target.

Look how he is holding the for end with his right hand.

A conference between one of our game scouts and our cook

This is the man in charge of food and beverages. He seemed to be around any time one wants any refreshment. This is a before photo, and ....

This is an after the shot photo. Look how the rifle slipped out of his left hand, and how the stock had gone under his arm pits.

One of our game scouts. This one was such a character, we had lots of fun with him.

Another photo of our old game scout. He got quite interested in my rifle and ammo. And kept examining it each time I shot an animal.

Coaching is allowed and encouraged, but we had to draw the line when the supporters wanted to do the shooting on behalf of their "shooter"

The rifles were getting rather hot from the rapid fire. Here you see Nelson using a wet towl dipped in the river to cool the barrels. He did a grand job of it too!

Another tracker. He got nicknamed POACHER
