22 Rim Fire Ammo Test In The Walther KK200
50 Yards
The ammo is listed with the best average group at the top. All shooting was done in our indoor range, shooting off the bench. The rifle has a Leupold 8.5-25X scope.
We are going to shoot all the ammo at 75 and 100 yards. Except the CCI QUIET-22 - which you will see at the bottom of this report. There seems no point in doing so, as the drop is enormous, and we also found the velocity variation to be quite high too. Lowest velocity we got was 536 fps and the highest was 688. That is 28% variation, which really rules them out for shooting at the longer distances.
I took the photo above of the ammo we are testing half through our shoot. As they are shot, they are placed on the left on the green board.
The ammo in the big plastic box with the Ruger 10/22 magazines is Lapua CLUB, which comes in metal cans of 500 rounds. We find it easier to have them in thsi box with the Ruger magazines, as the kids love to shoot it.
The smaller plastic box behind that has ammo which people bring to shoot here with no boxes - we use this for fun shooting at targets - it evens the score between those who shoot well and those who don't! As some of it is target ammo, and some are very cheap high velocity! The point of impact at 25 yards with a pistol can vary enormously!
Please ignore the shot at the bottom left. It wasn't part of the group.
