Hunting The Selous With Alan Vincent 2012
Part II
We travelled on Emirates Airlines, the Award Winning international airline of the UAE. DEverything went smoothly with our check in and departure. Emirates requires advance notice if you are taking firearms with you, and we gave them a 2 week notification, and had no problems at all.
Our flight takes about 5 hours to Dar Essalam, Tanzania.
Sadly, we had to endure being in line of several planes waiting for take off. It is the price one pays for flying from a very busy international hub.
Walter is trying his best to look intelligence, by reading the newspaper. A closer look shows he is reading the classified section!
Chcolate ice cream for breakfast in the First Class Lounge, and a Mars bar as a first snack in teh plane.
Chris is going the healthy way. He is having a freshly squeezed orange juice.
Our lunch menu on the flight. There was an extensive mine menu as well, as a large selection of teas and coffees
Salad and biryani, one of my favourites!
The fun has already started. Walter has lost something under the table.
Freshly brewed coffee to round up lunch
Over the Indian Ocean
The coast of Somalia
Walter checking the performance of his range finder!
Approaching Dar Essalam
Garry and DEan met us in Dar, to accompany us to the camp. Donald is finishing his paperwork. Donald is such a great guy. He whisks us through customs and immigration in no time at all.
You can see the smiles on Chris and my face. Walter is not sure what he is in for after his fiasco last year.
A few photoes of Dar and its outskirts taken from our charter plane
I am sorry about the quality of the last few pictures. The sun was in the wrong position, and I tried to clean them up as much as I could to make them look better.
