Our Safari In The Selous, With Alan Vincent, September-October 2011
Part IV
Lunch in the bush. This particular place became one of our regular hand outs for lunch. As it was not far from one of our croc baits. It is on teh bank of the river, and not far from here where we saw so many hippos asleep in the shade.
Baked beans. Rene has a photo of me eating beans from a can in 1982. Apparently we have moved down the civilization path, as I am now eating teh beans from a bowl!
A little rest after lunch
One has to be very careful not to lie down under one of those palm or sausage trees. Either of which is gong to give one a bad headache, at least.
Replenishing the lion bait.
Notice how the bark sticks on the boss
AS the truck can not get close, another plan is made to carry the meat out. This is one of Nelson's buffalos being transported
Buffalo heart. The trackers favorite lunch.
A close up of an excite hole. The bullet went out through the right hole, and the left one was caused by one of teh petals that had broken off.
Walter improvising again. If you look carefully, you will see that this is an upside down water bottle with teh bottom cut out. He is using it as a tea cup.
The skin of a hippo. Apparently this sweat has anti-biotic properties
A herd of buffalo very far away.
Buffalo heart and meali meal, followed by Tangawizi. What more does a man wants for lunch!
It is amazing where hippos and buffalo can walk. Us humans were finding it quite hard going.
Our friend Fred, He liked to keep us on our toes.
We hid a video camer in this carcas, hoping to get some video of teh vultures. But, they coverd the lens as soon as they arrived!
